What is an IBCLC?
Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) are certified healthcare professionals who are trained in the clinical management of breastfeeding. IBCLCs are trained in the most up to date evidenced based best practices of breastfeeding. We work with families and their healthcare providers to support parents with their infant feeding journey.

What to expect during your home visit
Your home visit lactation consultation is scheduled around your baby’s feeding pattern. At the consult, your baby is weighed on a high caliber scale. We can use this scale to measure how much milk your baby is transferring at the breast during a feed.
If you plan on pumping in the upcoming month, you may also pump while the consultant is at your home so that she can evaluate your flange size, your pump features and the amount of milk you are making. If you do not already have a pump you will be able to discuss this with the consultant and determine what options work best for you.
