Lactation Consultations
Prenatal Lactation Visit
This private consultation is to help get breastfeeding off to the best start, which is especially important in the first few days after giving birth. No matter how and where you are birthing this visit will help your breastfeeding success and educate you what you need to do to establish your supply.
It is suggested to plan this visit by 35 weeks gestation.
Cost: $175 Travel fees apply.
Breastfeeding Consultation
During this initial consultation, the lactation consultant will take a complete maternal and infant health history, perform physical assessments of the baby and of the mother’s breasts, and observe a breastfeeding session.
A typical consult takes 1 - 2 hours. A written plan of care, a coded insurance claim form (Super Bill) and a monetary receipt for purposes of reimbursement will be provided at the time of the visit. To maintain continuity of care a report is sent to your pediatrician and obstetrician of choice. The lactation consultant will follow up with you within 48-72 hours after the visit.
If additional issues or questions cannot be addressed by phone, a follow-up consultation may be recommended.
Cost: $175 Travel fees apply.

What if I have a different insurance?
Consultations are affordable and in your home. We provide a SuperBill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of our services. While we cannot guarantee full reimbursement, that is strictly dictated by your individual plan and insurance company as a whole, we can provide the information needed to hopefully have you receive full reimbursement.
How do I know if my Insurance Covers Breastfeeding Support?
We do recommend that you contact your individual insurance company prior to your lactation appointment to see any rules they may have with lactation support and submitting the Superbill for reimbursement. You can tell them that our IBCLCs provide the following on each Superbill EIN, The IBCLCs NPI number, the license number of the IBCLC, Applicable codes related to the information covered in your lactation appointment in regards to both your and your baby, as well as codes related to any equipment used
Once you have the information from your insurance company, please pass that on to your IBCLC during their in-home consultation so they can provide a Superbill specific to your needs
If you or someone you know is in need of lactation consultation and is worry about the cost Crystal Coast Lactation Services is able to provide income-based consultations to families in need. Please contact us so we can determine a mutually desired price.
